World War 2 Theme
It’s 1945 and the war in Western Europe has come to a victorious End. Our troops return to our glorious island and the feeling of relief, joy, pride and excitement is in the air. ATM can re-create this magical 1940’s theme time so that you and your guests really do feel as if they are in a real VE Day street party. |

On arrival your guests will arrive through a realistic 1940’s theme sand bag bunker entrance manned by two armed guards. Making their way through to the reception area, guests will be presented with their reception drink by uniformed 1940’s officers and cigarette glamour girls.
On entering the main room, guests will be shown to their tables which will be simply dressed with white table cloths, 1940’s theme table numbers, a ‘gas mask box’ party gift for all your guests and red, white and blue helium balloons.
To set the scene, searchlights will play across the sky. A newspaper seller will appear and shout “Extra, extra! Read all about it. Peace declared! No More War” as he hands out facsimile newspapers of the time. Church bells will ring out as guests enter through a sandbagged entrance marked “to the air raid shelter”, where a street party will celebrate amid the ruins.
The theming in the main room will be achieved with World War II backdrops including an overhead spitfire and blitzed London terraced house. Union Jack bunting and 1940’s advertising posters will cover the walls to help create a realistic 1940’s theme setting.
On each place setting is a small hand held Union Jack and a song sheet for a good old knees up later on. Food is served on enamel plates with drinks in enamel mugs. The menu is a ration card with dried egg and spam crossed out and replaced by unheard of luxuries, the likes of which we have not seen for many a year.
After dinner, the Ritz ballroom opens with a demonstration of old time dancing from a small troupe followed by some jitterbugging from a lively swing band. Those who don’t want to dance can try the casino hut. |
